LaVar Ball, the outspoken father of top NBA draft prospect Lonzo Ball, made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take on Thursday which produced some amazingly great television. Not because we learned anything new about LaVar or his sons but because for the first time in the history of this bullshit show somebody actually was able to out scream and out bully Stephen A.
Turns out some of ESPN employees who were not pleased with having LaVar on the Network.
But what Danny Kanell and others don't realize is that to the consumer of sports and sports television and sports radio etc, LaVar Ball represents reality. See there is nothing fake about LaVar. He believes what he says and when asked a question he gives us an honest answer. Now we may not agree with LaVar but at least he isn't giving us the same old bullshit we get from people like Stephen A or Skip. And he sure as shit doesn't give us the same "Safe" regurgitated bullshit we get from every ESPN (Disney) personality. LeVar Ball is the real.
And who the fuck is this Dari? News Flash Dari.. It's that kind of bullshit hot take that drives us sports fans fucking crazy. Nobody is faulting Lonzo for anything that comes out of LeVar's mouth. As a matter of fact I think LeVar has done an amazing job of keeping the spotlight off of Lonzo and squarely on him. Has anyone even heard Lonzo talk? Can he talk? I don't know. But I do know that the idea of people hating Lonzo because of what his dad says is total and utter bullshit. Oh the children... Fuck you Dari.. Lonzo will be just fine. It's you that has the problem with America.
We need to stop mocking LeVar and embrace him. We also need to start demanding that we get more "LeVar" from our sports media and less Dari or Stephen A or Danny Kanell. I may not always agree with what LeVar has to say but I'll take his authenticity anyday over the fake and scripted shit we get on a daily basis from everyone else. And I'm willing to bet.. so will his boys.
OAKLAND – News broke this week about how the Raiders have been meeting with every over the hill RB in the league and even one that is retired. Adrian Peterson has met with the Raiders and they have also inquired about getting the rights to Marshawn Lynch while possibly convincing him to come out of retirement. However, this new story is eye opening.
With the possibility of being paroled from prison this summer, Hall of Fame RB O.J Simpson may have a new place to call home. That's right, the soon to be 70 year old has gained some interest from the Oakland Raiders as recently as yesterday. Some Raider insiders are suggesting that since he hasn't actually run the ball since 1976 there is a good chance his body has a lot less wear and tear on in than say Adrian Peterson. It's also a known fact that OJ has shown some real agility "running the train" in the prison kitchen.
Not sure what the rules are as far as who actually holds the rights to OJ but one thing is for certain, the Oakland Raiders are turning over every rock to find their next great Running Back.
Stay tuned for more details.
Lesson #1 with March Madness:
There are no meaningless points ever scored in a tournament game. The headlines across social media today was how my Alma Mater Oklahoma State hit a meaningless 3 pointer at the end of the game and lost by 1 point. Who cares, they lost by one you might say... That's where you would be wrong.
See in Las Vegas Sports Books every fucking point matters. Doesn't matter win or lose, every point matters. Nearly 70% of bettors put their money on Michigan at -2.5 today which means Vegas made a shitload of money on those meaningless points and a whole lot of Michigan fans are really pissed off right about now.
So yes Oklahoma State fans it sucks we lost but sleep well tonight knowing how there are a shit ton of people who picked Michigan to win laying those points and they lost their ass today!
Vanderbilt’s Matthe Fisher-Davis is wishing he could get a one-way ticket to a new planet right about now.
During today’s Vanderbilt-Northwestern game, Fisher-Davis for some unknown reason decided to foul the Northwestern player with 15 secs left in the game when his team was actually up in the score. And as the basketball gods would have it, Vanderbilt ends up losing the game.
Now look I could rip this kid from here to kingdom come but the truth is we forget these kids are just 18 or 19 years old and god knows how many stupid ass mistakes I made during those years. However, I never went absolutely fucking brain dead at a crucial part of any game in my life. Committing an intentional foul in the closing seconds of a game when your team is up would be like me intentionally hitting a batter with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning with my team up a run. WTF are you thinking son? I don't blame poor Matthe though.
Somebody please explain to me what the coach of Vandy was doing while this kid was casually putting hands on the Northwestern player? Why wasn't he screaming and yelling to just get back like most basketball coaches do during a game? I don't blame Matthe...Nope. I blame the lame ass coach and rest of his teammates for allowing him to do it. Did you see how nonchalant he was committing the foul as well? Just kind of went over as if to say, "Slow down, you're running to fast".
Crazy part is he goes to Vanderbilt. I'm going to assume that his book smarts are off the charts. I'm also going to assume that with Vanderbilt being a -2 pt favorite in the game that good old Matthe didn't have any money riding on the game. But you know what they say when you ASS UME......
I've been saying it for years now. This is what happens when little Johnny gets a fucking ribbon for finishing in 8th place every time they suck at competition. Are you serious with this? I would rather my kid grow a set of DD bitch tits before dropping to the ground and rolling around before a punch is even thrown. I blame the parents of this jerk off. What chance does this kid have of actually succeeding in life? None! Zero! This is an epidemic people. You have raised a generation of 8th place ribbon wearing softies. I'm not even sure there is a cure for this disease. This needs to stop now! For the love of all that is manly in this world. Make it stop!
Well HOLY SHIT.. After 432 prayers and going 0 for 8 at the plate Tim Tebow finally delivered for the METS today in a Grapefruit League classic. It was a surprise appearance for Tebow as METS manager Terry Collins said on Friday that he had no plans to bring Tebow back. However, because of the WBC and various split-squad games, Collins had no choice.
And thank GOD he did get a hit as all these people applauding were starting to lose their faith with the man upstairs. Now Tebow can go back to doing what he does best.....Being a really really really nice guy.
So I can't remember the last time I watched or even gave a shit about a NASCAR race. But after what happened this weekend I may need to reevaluate this sport. I'm not sure why Kyle Busch and Joe Logano are pissed at each other or why Kyle Busch is the only guy who is bleeding after this dust up but I don't really give a fuck one way or the other. If NASCAR is allowing guys to just finish the race and then head over and beat the shit out of each other, I'm in.
Why has NASCAR been keeping this little nugget of information quiet. Any sport that will allow its participants to flat out brawl after the game/race is ratings gold. Like Kyle said afterwards, that's how Joey races and he's going to get it next... Well shit Kyle, now I have to watch the next NASCAR race. Start your engines bitches!
P.S- What kind of large ass animal was that who broke up the fight? Did you see the size of the MF? Does he work as a bouncer for NASCAR? So many questions.
So it's that time of year again. When we get to roast or applaud the committees selections for this years National Championship tournament. Let's first not worry about those who did not make it in like Syracuse. These bubble teams more often than not are the definition of average and choked away their opportunity at some point in the season. To me it's far more telling of who really gets screwed and or really lucky when you look at the seedings and the regions.
Here are some initial thoughts:
- Some people will say Duke got screwed by not being a #1 seed but the bottom half of the East bracket sets up pretty well for Duke as a #2.
- Virginia gets a tough opening round game against Kevin Keatts and his UNC Wilmington boys and Florida will have its hands full with East Tennessee State's TJ Cromer. Both these games are upset alerts to me.
-Keep and eye on SMU and who they play in the first round (Providence or USC). This could be the best game of the first round if Providence advances into the 6/11 game. I like SMU to do some damage in this bracket.
- Looking so forward to the Mich/OK ST opening matchup. This will be must watch television for sure as Oklahoma States Jawun Evans goes up against Michigan's Derrick Walton. Ok State should have been higher than a #10 seed for sure.
- Not sure Kansas is feeling the love right now as they get the winner of the MSU vs Miami game in round 2.
- This bracket appears to me to be the most fun. Teams like Iowa St., Louisville, KU, Iona and Michigan will make this a great bracket to follow.
- Wichita State as a #10 seed may make some think there not that good. They would be wrong. They are good. However, the Missouri Valley Conference was down this year so many will underestimate them. I would not.
– The bottom half of the South is going to be interesting with Kentucky, Dayton, Wichita State and UCLA all in that bottom half.
– North Carolina got the best draw out of the No. 1’s in terms of the 8/9 games. Seton Hall is the only team I see that can give them trouble. I do like UNC’s path to the Elite Eight ,especially compared to the bottom half of the bracket.
– That West region seems the to be the weakest bracket out of the four. Arizona has a pretty nice draw getting to stay home out West, where Florida State does struggle away from home.
- Potential upset right off the bat in this region. Dunk City is back in the field, and don’t be surprised if Florida Gulf Coast does it again, drawing a beatable No. 3 seed in Florida State.
-Keep an eye on Vanderbilt. Although it didn't seem as if they could make the field the Commodores closed strong, winning eight of their final 11 games including twice against Florida and on the road at Arkansas to secure their place in history as the first 15-loss team to get an at-large bid. The Commodores are a scary match up because of their long distance shooting, which ranks 15th nationally from 3. This is a real Sleeper.
I'll have more thoughts as the week progresses but this should be a fun next few weeks for sure. Get your brackets ready!
